Over 10,000 Indians stranded in Kyrgyzstan

Over 10,000 Indian students from across India are stranded in the Osh State University (OSU), Kyrgyzstan who desperately want to return, a student from the varsity said on Sunday.

Reacting to a report by IANS on March 28 via email, the medical student Darshan Shinde narrated the plight of the Indian students at the university.

"We were removed from our hostel and kept in other hostels, with four persons in one small room. We are locked here and our passports are not given to us," rued Shinde.

Besides, the hostel has reportedly kept suspected cases of COVID-19, and the student apprehends that the food stocks in the local markets would disappear soon.

Suspected COVID-19 patient dies in quarantine in Goa

A 68-year-old female patient, with no travel history outside Goa and who was in quarantine due to suspected COVID-19 symptoms, died at 3 a.m. on Sunday, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said.

The Health Minister however said, that laboratory results of her samples are awaited.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau said on Sunday that she has received clearance from her doctor after she was tested positive for the novel coronavirus earlier this month.

The test reports of a 40-year-old woman who died in Mumbai on Saturday have come out positive for coronavirus, taking the death toll of COVID-19 patients in Maharashtra to seven, a civic official said on Sunday.

The woman was admitted to a civic hospital here on Saturday after she complained of severe respiratory distress, the official said.

Five labourers killed in Gurugram road mishap

Five labourers were crushed to death by a speeding truck near Kundli Manesar Palwal expressway here, police said on Sunday.

Deepak Shaharan, DCP, Manesar said that the incident took place on Saturday late night, when the labourers were walking on the expressway and hit by the vehicle.

The official said that the truck was ladened with vegetables and the driver lost control of the vehicle due to high speed and mowed down the labouerers.

Walking from Delhi to MP, man dies in Agra

A 39-year-old man, who had walked almost 200 kilometers from Delhi to reach his home in Morena in Madhya Pradesh, collapsed and died in Agra on Saturday.

The man, identified as Ranveer Singh, worked as home delivery boy for a private restaurant in the national capital.

According to police, the victim collapsed near Kailash turning of the national highway-2, after which a local hardware store owner Sanjay Gupta rushed to the victim.

Three more test positive for COVID-19 in West Bengal

Three women from two different parts of West Bengal on Saturday tested positive for COVID-19, taking to 18 the total number of people suffering from the disease in the state, a senior official of the state health department said.

Two women, aged 76 and 56 years, are residents of Egra in south Bengal's East Midnapore district while the third, a 54-year-old, is from Kalimpong in Darjeeling district of north Bengal.

Five new COVID-19 cases in MP; state tally rises to 39

The number of COVID-19 cases in Madhya Pradesh rose to 39 on Sunday morning with five more persons testing positive for coronavirus, officials said.

The five new patients include a 17-year-girl from Ujjain and four men - aged 21, 38, 40 and 48 all residents of Indore, a bulletin issued by the Government Mahatma Gandhi Medical College here said.

The girl is undergoing treated at a hospital in Ujjain while the four men were being provided medical care in Indore.

These patients do not have any foreign travel history, the bulletin said.

So far, 20 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Indore, eight in Jabalpur, four in Ujjain, three in Bhopal, and two each in Shivpuri and Gwalior, a health official said.

Of these 39 patients, a woman from Ujjain and a man from Indore earlier died.

UP govt orders quarantine for those returning home

The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered quarantine for approximately one lakh people who have arrived in the state from other parts of the country in the last three days.

According to a statement issued by the state government, Yogi Adityanath said that in the last three days, one lakh people have come to UP from other states.

Their names, addresses and phone numbers have been made available to the district magistrates and they are being closely monitored.

Sri Lanka reports first COVID-19 death

Sri Lanka's Health Ministry said that a 60-year-old man who tested positive for the novel coronavirus has died while being under critical care at the National Infectious Disease Hospital on the outskirts of Colombo.

This marks Sri Lanka's first death from the COVID-19 outbreak, reports Xinhua news agency.

The Health Ministry said in a statement on Saturday that the man underwent a kidney transplant a few years ago and was admitted to the National Infectious Disease Hospital recently after testing positive for the COVID-19.

It further said that presently 113 patients were confirmed with the virus in Sri Lanka after five patients tested positive on Saturday.

ICMR finds 10% SARI patients positive for COVID-19, no community transmission yet

COVID-19 cases in Turkey climb to 7,402, with 108 deaths

In the past 24 hours in Turkey, 16 more people lost their lives due to COVID-19, raising the death toll to 108, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said.

The total number of novel coronavirus cases rose to 7,402 in Turkey, the minister tweeted on Saturday night, Xinhua news reported.

A total of 7,641 tests were performed on Saturday and 1,704 were diagnosed, he added.

Turkey reported the first COVID-19 case in the country on March 11.
