BJP offered ₹50 cr, but I’m with Kamal Nath dada: Madhya Pradesh BSP MLA

Amid claims by the BJP that the Congress government could fall any day, BSP MLA Rambai, who used to take potshots at the Kamal Nath government earlier, has reiterated her commitment to Chief Minister Kamal Nath, though the BJP is approaching her, she claimed

“I am receiving calls from BJP, offering even ₹50 crore and a minister's post. I am with Kamal Nath dada and not with the Congress,” she said on Monday, adding: “I have declined (the offers) and blocked the numbers on my mobile phone.”

The controversial BSP MLA from Patharia was among the ruling coalition legislators who attended a meeting called by Kamal Nath at his home in Bhopal on Sunday. All of them rallied behind Kamal Nath and pledged to “unitedly fight attempts to destabilise the government”.

On Monday, as soon as the news spread that she was still in Bhopal, mediapersons rushed to meet her. Surrounded by TV crews, she reiterated her support to “Nath dada”. Rambai did express resentment at the “neglect of the MLAs supporting the government”, and said, “The government should have taken care of the naraaz MLAs (sulking MLAs) and they should have been on their priority list.”

She claimed that she was repeatedly approached by the BJP, and that the saffron party even approached her when she was in a hospital in Delhi, taking care of her injured son who had met with an accident. “I kept getting telephone calls and ultimately I blocked their phone numbers,” she said.

She said Kamal Nath dada had called her and inquired about the “well being of my son and extended help”. Asked if she would continue supporting Congress, she said, “I am supporting Kamal Nath dada”. Earlier, she had often sniped at the state government, demanded a ministerial berth, and once said that “if it wasn’t for Mayawati, she would have shown the Congress the true picture”.
