Kanta Prasad, aged 80, who runs Baba Ka Dhaba in South Delhi's Malviya Nagar, allegedly tried to commit suicide on Thursday after he consumed sleeping pills. Prasad was taken to Safdarjung hospital where he has been admitted in ICU, the Indian Express reported.
The police revealed that they had received a PCR call that a man, who attempted suicide, has arrived at the hospital. Police rushed to the spot and found that he is Kanta Prasad. Baba ka Dhaba’s owner is currently undergoing treatment. His wife informed the police that he had been depressed for the last few days, a senior police officer informed.

According to the report, Prasad’s wife has also said that he had to close the restaurant he opened in December last year and was back to his old roadside stall as the cost of running the new establishment was around Rs 1 lakh while his income was only about Rs 30,000.
Kanta Prasad had shot to fame after a video of him tearfully recounting the desperation of the months since the lockdown was shared widely across social media platforms.
