In a desperate attempt to defame JNU, Home Minister Amit Shah and his gang is parroting “tukde tukde gang” barb in order to deflect public attention from the real issues, former JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar has said.

Talking to National Herald, Kumar said they (BJP government) are using, imaginary “tukde-tukde gang” to deflect public attention from the real issues while the truth is that they are the real “tukde tukde gang” as they are dividing the country along religious lines.

“You talk about unemployment, they will start teaching nationalism, you ask about the sinking economy, they will bring in terrorism and Pakistan, you raise the question about job loss, they will talk about JNU and the so-called ‘tukde-tukde gang’. The reality is that Amit Shah and his gang is doing all this in desperation because they know they are losing the plot,” said the CPI leader who is going to undertake a yatra from Jan 30 — the day when father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated — against CAA-NRP-NRC.

It is worth noting here that in a reply to an RTI application, the home ministry, which comes under Amit Shah recently accepted that the government has no information about the so-called “tukde-tukde gang”.

Reacting to this, RTI activist Saket Gokhle had said, “The ‘tukde-tukde gang’ does not officially exist and is merely a figment of Amit Shah’s imagination.”

Underlining that the ongoing anti-CAA protest has brough two communities – Hindu and Muslims – closer, and a mass awakening is taking place India, Kumar said the government feels perplexed as their bet on CAA-NRC had failed. On the contrary, the movement against the discriminatory Act is gaining momentum on the ground and is spreading in many parts of the country.

Kumar said that CAA-NRP- NRC was is indeed a Hindu-Muslim issue, but essentially it was an economic issue. “For rich, urban and educated people it is not difficult to produce documents but for the poor people it is going to be a Herculean task,” he said.

Pointing out that the whole exercise of CAA-NPR-NRC was going to hurt poor and the Indian economy the most, Kumar appealed to everyone join forces together to defeat the ‘nefarious activity’ of the BJP government.
