After dissolving assembly, under fire J&K governor fears transfer

After making a controversial remark that New Delhi wanted to see Peoples Conference leader Sajad Lone as Chief Minister in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik feels that he may be shifted out of Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking at a function marking the death anniversary of senior Congress leader Girdhari Lal Dogra in Jammu on Tuesday, Malik dropped the hint of his possible transfer from the state, claiming that he can’t lose his job (governorship).

"Had I looked towards Delhi (the centre), then I would have been forced to invite Sajad Lone to form the government. Then I would have gone down in history as unscrupulous. But I ended the whole thing. Those who want to abuse me can do so, but I am convinced I did the right thing."

Had I obliged either side as he didn’t want to go down in history as a “dishonest” man, he had claimed.

However, on Tuesday evening Raj Bhavan spokesperson issued a clarification that Malik, while taking the decision to dissolve the Legislative Assembly, acted in an “objective and impartial manner”.

“There was no pressure or any kind of intervention from the Centre in the entire matter and some news channels are misinterpreting Governor’s statement and putting them out of context to convey that there was pressure from the Central Government,” the spokesperson had added.
