After BJP, RSS constructing massive New Delhi office with ‘donations’

No, the RSS is not a registered NGO. And no, the RSS is not subjected to any audit. It is not covered by the Income Tax Act and nobody quite knows how its raises its funds and if it receives foreign funds. But the world’s largest self-styled ‘ cultural’ organisation is clearly not strapped of funds and is in the process of constructing three towers in New Delhi.

The construction follows the new BJP party office, resembling a corporate office, built next door in record time. The BJP, the richest political party in India certainly, is also on record with the claim, made after Demonetisation in 2016, that it had purchased land in every district of the country and would be constructing offices there.

News agency IANS reports: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is constructing its new office in New Delhi with the help of donations received from the people. The RSS office-bearers are contacting people who support their ideology and it is being said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office-bearers are also helping the organisation.

The construction work of the RSS headquarters is on since 2016 but now the right wing organisation has fixed the target to complete the construction in a year's time. As of now, the organisation is operating from the Udasin Ashram in the national capital.

Sources in the RSS said the funds required for the construction of Keshav Kunj in Jhandewalan is being collected by Keshav Smarak Samiti. The construction work is being named as 'Keshav Kunj Navrachna Prakalp'.

An office-bearer of the RSS told IANS: "Every work of the Sangh is being done by the support of the society. Donations are been taken through cheques only. Whosoever are well wishers of the Sangh are contributing in it."

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat laid the foundation stone of the new building, spread across 3.5 lakh sq ft, of the Sangh at Jhandewalan in November 2016. Work on three towers have been going on. The first tower consists of 12 floors. When the Supreme Court gave its verdict over the Ayodhya issue, Bhagwat held his press conference from this under-construction building.

The sources said the RSS and its subsidiary organisations will eventually shift to New Delhi. Though the Nagpur headquarters of the Sangh will continue to be the main headquarter but this new headquarter will also be of prominence as many important decisions are been taken from the national capital.

Several questions have been raised over RSS as an organisation, in December 2018, Prakash Ambedkar had raised questions over the RSS as an organisation and asked why the organisation had not been registered and did not pay income tax, reported Free Press Journal.
