Aaghaz-e-Dosti, a cross border Indo-Pak friendship initiative is going to release its seventh annual Indo-Pak Peace Calendar 2019.
The cross border friendship initiative primarily works through peace education activities in schools and colleges. The annual calendar is a collection of selected paintings of school students from India and Pakistan and is launched along with a seminar in several cities across both countries.
The importance of the calendar is that it showcases the dreams and hopes of children of both the countries and hopefully those looking at it will be reminded of it everyday.
“At a time when both countries are facing similar objectives of improving their works in field of Education, Public Health and Poverty removal; the huge defence budgets and expenses on maintaining arms and ammunition against each other need to be rethought. Moreover, conflicts, wars, hatred are never a solution and only results loss of lives of soldiers and common people on both sides. People must stand together to create an environment of peace where their future generations may take breathe in a society full of love, compassion and peace,” said Ravi Nitesh of Aaghaz-e-Dosti.

Talking about the peace calendar and the peace initiative, Devika Mittal said, “This initiative has received constant support and enthusiasm from schools and students of both countries. We have schools which have been participating in this initiative since the first year and looks forward to the calendar initiative every year. we have also seen the quantity and quality in terms of themes of the paintings to be increasing with every year,”
This year, the peace calendar carries the messages of people like Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, Nandita Das, Major General (Retd) TK Kaul, Prof. Happymon Jacob , Rana Safvi and Rajagopal PV from India and Mehmal Sarfaraz, Husain Naqi, Amarnath Randhawa, Dr Ashok Kumar, Dr. Ruksana David and Prof Ayesha Jalal from Pakistan.
