Senior Congress leader and former Union minister Saifuddin Soz on Tuesday congratulated INTACH’s Srinagar Chapter for J&K’s capital city to be nominated as a new member of UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network 2021 under the Crafts and Folk category.
“It is a great moment of joy for all of us that UNESCO has nominated Srinagar as a new member of UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network 2021 under the Crafts and Folk category. This declaration of UNESCO will make a lot of our craftsmen & women better,” Soz said in a press release.

“It (the UNESCO) declaration recognizes the rich heritage of the arts and crafts of Jammu and Kashmir in general and Srinagar in particular. It shall boost the marketability of our crafts in the international market which would definitely help the poor craftsman in improving their living. It shall also boost the awareness about this city and its significance with respect to Arts and Crafts which shall definitely boost tourism of the state and development of products produced by the craftsmen and women of Kashmir,” he said.

“I would also like the craftsmen to approach Hon’ble Lt. Governor in connection with seeking help from UNESCO,” he added.
