Ayush N Chandra, deaf artist awarded the National Gaurav Award

Specially-abled Ayush N Chandra was awarded the National Gaurav Award at the Vigyan Bhawan. He is an activist who talks about the inclusion of disabled children into mainstream education and society

Specially-abled Ayush N Chandra was awarded the National Gaurav Award at the Vigyan Bhawan on Sunday, December 23.

Ayush is a Kathak dancer and plays several instruments such as Harmonium, Tabla and Guitar despite the fact that he has never heard a single sound in his life. The National Gaurav Award was organised by the Indian Brave Hearts, DNA and the Nagaland government.

The talented and versatile youth also performed a classical dance at the event.

Ayush was also invited by the UN President to participate in a UN Conference, YOUTH-72. He raised issues about the problems faced by deaf individuals and suggested ideas about having an inclusive setting for students with disabilities in education and society.

Ayush is the second such Divyang to have certificates in Yoga from the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY).

He teaches Dance, Yoga and Art to children free of cost while also raising awareness in the society about inclusion for other disabled children.

He has been granted admission into Baruch College, New York and is all set to join from January 2019.
