My heart is heavy as I’m sure yours is too, says Rohit Sharma on semi-final loss

Indian opener Rohit Sharma said 30 minutes of poor cricket snatched the chances of India lifting World Cup title in England. Sharma took to twitter to post a heartfelt message after the team lost to New Zealand in the semi-final in Manchester on Thursday.

Indian Vice Captain suffered failure on the reserve day of the rain-affected final at Old Trafford when India were chasing 240 against Kiwis. Rohit was caught behind in the 2nd over following which India lost KL Rahul and Virat Kohli.

India were at 5 for 3 but a brilliant effort from Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni took them closer to the target. 116-run stand for the 7th wicket between Dhoni and Jadeja wasn't enough after the top-order wobble as New Zealand clinched an 18-run win and progressed to their second consecutive World Cup final.

Rohit Sharma's reactions from the dressing room during the semi-final went viral as the India vice-captain was gutted after losing his wicket early. When Ravindra Jadeja got to his fifty, Rohit rose up from his seat and signalled to the all-rounder to keep going in the tense chase.

"We failed to deliver as a team when it mattered, 30 minutes of poor cricket yesterday & that snatched away our chance for the cup. My heart is heavy as I’m sure yours is too.The support away from home was incredible.Thank you all for painting most of uk blue wherever we played (sic)," Rohit Sharma wrote on Twitter.

Indian opener played with a lot of determination and unprecedented consistency as he amassed 648 runs in 9 matches. Rohit became the first player in the history of the sport to hit 5 hundreds in a single edition of the World Cup.
