Thousands of migrant workers are attempting to reach home during lockdown

Government has made no arrangements yet to help them reach home

Every year more than nine million migrant workers move to cities for work

They work and send money back to their home towns and villages.

But with the lockdown, many have been left with little choice but to return home.

Thousands of migrant workers are stuck away from home without work, food and shelter

"It is better than living here with nothing and starving to death," said one such worker

Government has not established any community kitchen and food deliveries.

Non assurance from government is leading the flood of migrant workers from major cities.

In Chennai alone 4,500 workers were stuck at the city's railway station unable to return home.

About 1,700 went into relief shelters in the city. Another 2,800 are still unaccounted for as of Friday.

The figures and pictures are similar in UP, Rajasthan, Bihar and Maharashtra

The government has announced a package for the daily wagers, but the confusion continues

These labourers are clueless about the immediate help they need

As of Friday, there were more than 724 confirmed cases and 17 deaths due to coronavirus.
