“People ask, where are the promised Achchay Din? The Achchay Din are right here. That’s why you are able to attend this assembly. That’s why the army is here. It is because of Achchay Din that stone pelters are getting killed on a daily basis,” thundered a Guru representing Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti at a ‘Dharm Sansad’ at Jammu.
Present at the rally and listening to him in rapt attention were the BJP state president Ravinder Raina, three former ministers Sat Sharma, Sham Choudhary and Chander Prakash Ganga. The last named, a distributor of Patanjali products, was forced to resign from the ministry after he participated in a rally held in support of the accused in the Kathua rape and murder case.
The so-called religious leaders spoke freely on politics. “We will not allow two flags, two constitutions and two sets of laws to operate in Jammu and Kashmir. I congratulate the Governor (Satya Pal Malik) for not allowing the political parties which support terrorism, to form government here. This is the victory of Hindutva in Jammu and Kashmir,” Guru Ramanandacharya said, declaring that the “final battle” for Ram temple will start after religious heads meet in Uttar Pradesh next month.
“Whether they bring a legislation for temple construction or not…whether the Supreme Court, mullahs or secularists keep crying….the day chiseling and carving work of the stones is over, we’ll start work on temple construction,” he declared.

While Dharam Sansad was ostensibly aimed at garnering support in favour of Ram temple, speakers harped on Islamophopbia. “When a Muslim man reaches the age of 35, he becomes a father of eight children. But a Hindu man at this age, on an average, is father of 1.2 children. This ratio is alarming. In 2039 general elections, we would be nowhere and those snakes called Muslims would rule this country,” said Mahant Dinesh Bharati, a prominent face of the 2008 Amarnath agitation in Jammu.
He called upon each Hindu to produce at least five children and provide them weapons when they grow up. In his inflammatory speech, he lambasted the Supreme Court for throwing open its door at midnight for “Urban Naxals”.
Speakers also warned Modi government “not to mistake the patience of Hindu Samaj as weakness”. The VHP is planning to reach out to people in all 543 Lok Sabha constituencies by holding similar Dharam Sabha in six lakh villages across the country.
A decision to ask volunteers to reach Ayodhya, according to them, will be taken at Prayagraj Kumbh on January 31 and February 1.
