“Nawaz getting nominated for an Emmy is huge!”, says Shabana Azmi

Multiple National awards and international accolades winner, Shabana Azmi, is over-the-moon at Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s nomination for an international Emmy award in the ‘Best Actor’ category.

“I don’t know if Nawaz will win. If he does, I will be out on the streets dancing the Bhangra in joy. No Indian actor has ever been nominated for the Emmy. Even being nominated for it is a very big deal,” says Shabana recalling how she first spotted Nawaz.

“It was a cameo in Kabir Khan’s New York. Nawaz just blew the screen apart. I had to find him. Javed and I sought out his number. He couldn’t believe he was hearing all those wonderful things from us,” recalls Shabana hoping the actor brings home the Emmy.

“If he does, then nothing like it. Even if he doesn’t, he has still made us Indians every proud by his nomination,” says Shabana.
