John Abraham is back with Satyameva Jayate after the success of Parmanu, which is releasing on August 15 and is clashing with Akshay Kumar's Gold releasing on the same day. In a recent interaction with media, John revealed why he chose to release Satyameva Jayate on the Independence Day. He said, "We chose August 15 as the release date of this film because this movie is full of action, drama and patriotism and we think since very long time we haven’t seen credential commercial drama. This is a quintessential Hindi commercial film on a patriotic theme so Independence Day looked like the best day to release this film.
He added that releasing the film with Akshay Kumar’s Gold is actually a good thing. Both films have a common theme of patriotism, so, in a way, they complement each other. Even otherwise too, there is enough space for two films to release together. “We would love if people go and see Satyameva Jayate and we will be absolutely happy if people go and see Gold."
Talking about the theme of the film, actor Manoj Bajpayee said that corruption is an important issue in the country and we all must fight against it. “By making movies on this topic we are just conveying this message to the society. We are highlighting how corruption has plagued every corner of our country.”
When asked if the story of the film is based on a real life incident, producer Bhushan Kumar replied that the film does not tell any real life story but it’s a believable one. “There are many problems related to corruption in our country. Satyamev Jayte focuses on how common people deal with it and how they should face this problem bravely.” He said.
There are so many movies on corruption and one man’s crusade against corruption, what’s different in your film, why should one watch your film?
Responding to this question, Manoj Bajpayee said there are certain elements which are different in this movie. When people watch this movie they will feel the difference. Making a film doesn’t solve or doesn’t help in solving the problem of corruption, for that the government is responsible. But if a film is talking about the problem, that means the filmmaker is thinking about the issue and trying to make people aware about it. We just show an aspect of reality through movies and films, but we can’t remove corruption.
Satyamev Jayate is directed by Milan Milap Zaveri and produced by T series and Emmay Entertainment. The film stars John Abraham, Manoj Bajpai and Aaisha Sharma, Nora Fatehi and Amruta Khanvilkar.
