Entertainment: Hanuman Da Damdaar to hit the silver screen

Hanuman Da Damdaar, directed by Ruchi Narain hit the theatres on Friday. The jungle adventure animation has drawn enough publicity after it was revealed that Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, Kunal Kemmu, Chunky Pandey, Vinay Pathak, Saurabh Shukla, Makrand Deshpande and Javed Akhtar dubbed for the movie.

While Salman has dubbed for the lead character of Hanuman, Raveena has lent voice for Anjani, Kunal for Indra, Chunkey for tourist guide, Vinay for Popat Sharma, Makrand for Vishrav, Saurabh for Kesari and Javed Akhtar for Valmiki.

The film’s special screening saw Farah Khan, Kiran Rao, Mehr Jessia Rampal and Mandira Bedi along with their kids amongst others present at the event.

Bollywood biggies Farah Khan, Karan Johar, Sonam Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Taapsee Pannu and Shruti Hasan have promoted the film through their social media accounts.

The film features the recreated version of RD Burman and Gulzar composed song ‘Lakdi ki Kathi’ from the 1938 film Masoom released on May 18 by Urmila Matondkar, who starred in the original song. The trailer was also launched on the same date. The motion poster of the film was unveiled by Salman Khan on Hanuman Jayanti on April 11 this year.

The film has been getting a good response online as its trailer has become the most watched animated movie trailers on YouTube. This has raised hopes for the filmmakers, who are expecting the movie to do well even at the box office.

Rishi Kapoor remembers father on 29th death anniversary

On 29th death anniversary of legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor, actor Rishi Kapoor paid tribute to his father.

In memory of his father he took to Twitter, where he quoted a line of the iconic song ‘JeenaYahaan Marna Yahaan’ from the film Mera Naam Joker. “Papa, today 29 years ago, you left us. Par hum tumhare rahenge sada,” wrote Rishi.

The greatest showman of Indian cinema died at the age of 63 on June 2, 1988. He made his acting debut with Neel Kamal in 1947.

Kapoor is regarded as one of the greatest and most influential filmmakers and actors in the history of Indian cinema. He was the winner of several accolades including three National Film Awards and 11 Filmfare Awards in India.

Johar to host the 18th IIFA at New York

The 18th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards to be held in New York from July 13 to 15, will be hosted by Filmmaker Karan Johar. The three-day extravaganza is conceptualised by Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt Limited. The star-studded award ceremony, to be held on July 15, will witness power-packed performances by Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Shahid Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon among others.

July 14 will see the celebration of 25 years of AR Rahman in the industry in the form of a musical evening named IIFA Rocks 2017, which will be hosted by Riteish Deshmukh and Manish Paul. The event will feature a never-before-seen medley of musicians that includes Rahman, Diljit Dosanjh, Benny Dayal, Javed Ali, Neeti Mohan, Jonita Gandhi and Haricharan Seshadri.

Commenting on the occasion, Salman said, “It always feels great to be a part of the IIFA Movement and I look forward to the 2017 IIFA Awards.”

Katrina added, “I am really excited and looking forward to performing at the IIFA Awards this year. It is such a great platform that not only showcases the celebration of cinema globally but also it's a great opportunity for us to reach out to our fans worldwide.”
