Entertainment: Anushka to play haunted girl in Pari

Anushka Sharma is all set to scare her fans in her upcoming film Pari, in which she is playing a haunted girl and her role depicts the dark side of life. The 29-year-old actress who is co-producing the project with KriAri Entertainment, took to Twitter to share the poster of the film.

The film’s shooting starts from Tuesday as the poster announces. It stars Bengali actor Parambrata Chatterjee opposite Anushka Sharma. The debutant Prosit Ray would be directing the film. The film will be shot in Kolkata and Mumbai. From the looks of it, the Pari poster is already stirring feelings of fear and mystery. Firmly placed as producer and actor with films like NH10, and Phillauri, Anushka is likely to receive warm response from her fans for Pari as well.

Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar have ousted iconic actor Amitabh Bachchan from the Forbes list of World’s highest paid entertainers this year with Hollywood star Sean Combs topping the list. King khan is at the 65th position with $37 Million, followed by Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar at the 71st and 80th positions with $37 Million and $35.5 million earned by them respectively.

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan however, unlike last year, could not make it to the list this year. Films of all the three actors including Raees, Jolly LLB, Naam Shabana, Bajrangi Bhaijan and Sultan had earned more than ₹150 crore last year.

Melody queen to get a statue at Madame Tussauds

The Queen of melody, Asha Bhosle’s wax statue will be displayed at the soon-to-be-launched Madame Tussauds museum in Delhi which will be 23rd in the world.

Last year, a team of experts had met the 83-year-old singer to take 150 specific measurements and images required to create her statue.

The excited singer said in a statement, “Thanks to Madame Tussauds and my fans for considering me for this incredible honour. Having a wax figure is a completely ecstatic feeling and it’s a new experience for me. I am excited to see and meet my final figure when the attraction opens. Madame Tussauds is a ‘one-of-a-kind’ attraction and is a rage across the world and I am looking forward to its launch and opening in Delhi.”

Anshul Jain, General Manager and Director, Merlin Entertainments India Pvt Ltd, said: “Asha Bhosle is one of the greatest singers of all times, so her figure has been an obvious choice to be present at Madame Tussauds Delhi. She has admirers from all the generations and is loved by everyone for her contribution to the film music. Announcing her figure at the attraction is exciting for us.”

Comedy shouldn’t be dismissed as senseless: Boman

Actor Boman Irani, who is going to portray children’s rights activist and Nobel Laureate, Kailash Satyarthi, in an upcoming film, titled Jhalki, feels that comedy films should not be dismissed as something senseless. The 57-year-old actor is best known for his comic roles in No Entry, Housefull series and Happy New Year.

In a candid interview, Boman said, “It is not a plan to have a balance of comic and serious films, it is a mindset. We, actors, are entertainers. It is a part of our social fabric to make sure that people are also entertained. People need an escape of sorts through movies. It is not to be treated like something totally senseless. It is important to entertain people who do not have the opportunity to travel. They require entertainment as a staple diet in their everyday life. Entertainment is a big medicinal dose for the public. I feel that we must acknowledge that.”
