Directd by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Bareilly is getting mixed reviews. According to Rediff.com, watching Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's Bareilly Ki Barfi is like watching an Irish Drinking Song being performed for two plus hours. This slender yet joyous film introduces so many fresh insanities and has such an endless stream of wisecracking -- full of rhymes, segues, and twisted phrases -- that it takes on shades of a running ballad. The script has an energy that seems to have sent all the actors over the rainbow and out they slide from the other end, with their characters’ daze firmly fixed inside them.

However, it is expected that the film will bring more audience in the coming days.

The story revolves around theatre director Sudhir (Shah) and his actor wife Seema (Azmi). Their life appears picture perfect, but appearances are often deceptive in the world of showbiz. It was also screened at the International Film Festival at Bangalore in January 1992. The movie also features Raj Babbar, Sushma Seth, Utpal Dutt, Annu Kapoor and Savita Bajaj.
