A BJP leader has complained against John Abraham's soon-to-be-released film, Satyamev Jayate for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Shia community.
In the complaint filed in Hyderabad, the BJP minority Front General Secretary Syed Ali Jafri has said that the trailer of the movie has hurt religious sentiments. He said that Muharram's procession has been shown in bad taste in the movie trailer. According to him, there is one shot in the trailer which shows the festival of Muharram and it depicts a scene of Matam (self-flagellation). The actor is later shown committing a murder following Matam. This has hurt our sentiments."

In the complaint filed in Hyderabad, BJP Minority Front General Secretary Syed Ali Jafri has alleged that the trailer of John Abraham’s movie ‘Satyamev Jayate’has hurt religious sentiments
Jafri further requested the local Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to transfer the complaint to the organisation's head office in Mumbai and take possible actions to remove the scene. The complainants threatened that if the scene is not deleted from the trailer and the movie, they would stage protests and not let the movie release. They also said that they would ensure similar protests were held not just in Hyderabad, but across the country.
A lawyer privy to the matter told Mirror Now, “Our concerns are that the movie’s plot is based on corruption. The makers could have very well completed the film without having a scene with the Muharram procession. The movie’s plot has nothing to do with Muharram. All these things are outraging religious feelings of a particular sect.”
Written and directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, the movie features John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee in lead roles is set to release on August 15 and will clash on the box office with Akshay Kumar’s Gold.
