Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthy Parishad (ABVP)’s losing spree continued on Wednesday when it managed to bag only a solitary seat in Delhi University, reported PTI. According to other websites, NSUI and ABVP won two seats each. Apparently, senior BJP leaders also reached the venue of the counting and seemed to intervene in the process.
It was a dramatic election as the Delhi University had initially rejected the nomination of the NSUI nominee for the president, Rocky Tuseed. Lawyers P Chidambaram and Vivek Tankha had to file a petition before the Delhi High Court which ordered the University to allow Tuseed to contest.
ABVP’s loss will alarm the Bharatiya Janata Party after the ABVP lost in Punjab University, JNU and in universities in Uttarakhand and Rajasthan.
The National Students Union of India (NSUI), student organisation of Congress, on Wednesday won three of the four posts of office bearers in DUSU (Delhi University Students Union) for which elections were held on Tuesday.
NSUI bagged two important posts - President and Vice President of Delhi University students Union election.

Akhil Bharti Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), student organisation of RSS secured the post of Secretary in DUSU.
The result is seen as a thumbs down to the aggressive, abusive and violent student politics pursued by the ABVP in the campus. This also indicates the waning influence of the BJP and Narendra Modi among the youth and growing disillusionment with the Government’s economic performance.
