Jagran film festival pays tribute to thespian Om Puri

India’s only travelling Film Festival, the Jagran Film Festival (JFF) will conclude on Wednesday. The Film Festival will pay tribute to veteran Bollywood actor Om Puri with his wife Seema Kapoor’s Mr Kabaadi, the last film in which the veteran actor performed. The satire is based on a play by Moliere, Annu Kapoor is in the lead and Om Puri is the sutradhar (narrator). The story revolves around chaos and funny situations in Kallu’s family. The cast of the film includes Om Puri, Annu Kapoor, Sarika, Vinay Pathak, Meenal Kapoor, Rajveer Singh, Kashish Vora, Ulka Gupta, Apurva Nain and Brajendra Kala.

The 2017 edition of Jagran Film Festival travelled from Delhi to Kanpur, Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Patna, Dehradun, Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bhopal, Indore, Hisar, Ludhiana, Meerut, Raipur, and will culminate in Mumbai.

The five-day fest was inaugurated by Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor on 1st of July.

The launch of the eight edition of the festival was marked by the presence of the Moroccan Ambassador Mohamed Maliki and several acclaimed actors, dignitaries and filmmakers. A special screening of the unreleased movie Fakir of Venice was also organised. The Morocco Ambassador described the Jagran Film Festival as a great initiative to bond people for the love of cinema.

The event saw the screening of mega trailer launch of the Hindi film Mom, which opens in cinemas this week.

The first day of the festival saw the screening of popular Bollywood films, including Hindi Medium, Naam Shabana, and the rare European titles-Purple Horizons and Horses of God.

Remembering the veteran actor Vinod Khanna who charmed the audiences on and off the silver screen, JFF paid tribute by screening one of his critically acclaimed film, Achanak on the second day.

The Jagran Film Festival was launched in 2009 and since then it has made a place for itself by showcasing both creative and commercial cinema from all over the world.
